DermLite Lumio 2 is the next generation in general skin exam illumination. By combining brightest-in-class polarised white light, three wavelengths in the UV spectrum, a special Wood mode, and special optical filters in a beautifully slim, quickly rechargeable device, Lumio 2 is the ultimate tool for visualising various skin conditions.

The Lumio 2 has a large, 100mm diameter aspheric lens with 2.3x magnification.  This allows for unrivalled visualisation of dermatological structures in excellent optical clarity. Choose from polarised white light or one of three specific wavelengths: 365nm, 385nm in the UV spectrum, or 405nm blue light. Or select its Wood mode, a special blend custom-tailored to resemble the unique illumination of a Wood’s lamp, which may help with evaluating the borders and extent of lentigo maligna, as well as melanoma excision scars for signs of recurrence, among others. All five modes are available in three brightness levels.

Lumio 2 comes with two magnetic OptiClip™ accessories.  While one OptiClip™ can be placed in the field of view to aid visualisation, the other OptiClip™ may be stored in the handle.

    • OptiClip 405nm Long-Pass – ideal for enhancing contrast of fluorescent features
    • OptiClip 2.5x – boosts magnification by a factor of 2.5

Lumio 2 integrates a powerful lithium-ion rechargeable battery designed to let you work for hours. Once its four-level charge indicator signals a low battery, recharging is fast and simple.  Charging is available from any USB outlet using the included USB-C to USB cable.

Model No. DLU2 is supplied with one Lumio 2, OptiClip 405nm Long-Pass, OptiClip 2.5x, and one protective neoprene pouch.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

Wood mode is a special illumination blend custom-tailored to resemble the light of a traditional Wood's lamp, and the manufacturer states it may assist in evaluating the borders and extent of lentigo maligna, as well as checking melanoma excision scars for signs of recurrence. It's one of five selectable lighting modes on the device, alongside polarised white light and three UV/blue wavelengths.

The OptiClip 405nm Long-Pass filter is designed to enhance contrast of fluorescent features, while the OptiClip 2.5x boosts magnification by a factor of 2.5 beyond the device's base 2.3x lens. Both are magnetic and included with every Lumio 2, with one able to be stored in the handle when not in use.

The Lumio 2 adds a larger 100mm 2.3x aspheric lens (versus the base Lumio's 75mm 2x lens), five selectable lighting modes including UV wavelengths and Wood mode (versus the base Lumio's fixed cross-polarisation only), a rechargeable lithium-ion battery instead of AA batteries, and two included OptiClip accessories. This makes the Lumio 2 a significantly more advanced, higher-priced device within the Lumio range.

It charges via USB-C from any standard USB outlet, using the included USB-C to USB cable. A four-level charge indicator signals battery status, including when it's time to recharge.

The Lumio 2's base lens offers 2.3x magnification, and adding the OptiClip 2.5x accessory multiplies this further for closer visualisation when needed. The product page states the multiplier factor but doesn't list a single combined figure, so clinics should confirm the exact resulting magnification with MoleMax Systems if precision matters for their workflow.
